चैन से हम को कभी

पुरानी तड़पन की यादें  ! जब प्रेमी अपना वचन ना निभाते निकल पड़ता है! कई लोग इसलिए पसंद करते है इस गीत को, जख्म को कुरेदना कभी कभी एक अजीब सा आनंद देती होगी, तभी तो ! 

खैर छोड़िये इन बातों को। १९७४ की फिल्म ‘प्राण जाए पर वचन ना जाए” का ये गीत है।  ये गीत जब रेकॉर्ड हुआ था, सूना है , एक अनोखा  रिश्ता टूट जानेकी नौबत आ गयी थी।  अब देखिये, १९७४ का फिल्मफेर बेस्ट प्लेबैक सिंगर का एवॉर्ड आशा जी को इस गीत के लिए मिला लेकिन एवॉर्ड लेने के लिए गयीं तक नहीं वो ।  ओपी साहब ने स्वीकार किया और घर जाते जाते ट्रॉफी को कहीं फेंक भी दिया ! आखिर में फिल्म से ये गीत को भी निकाल दिया गया ! चलो हमें इस से कुछ लेना देना नहीं है। 

अगर आप ऐसे प्रेमभग्न नहीं भी है तो चलिए मेरे प्रथम तरंग पे बजाये  इस गीत के साथ गायें । 

बाकायदा गाइये। 

ऐसा नहीं है की मैंने ऐसे रोतल, स्लो गीत बजाये नहीं है।  ‘राम करे ऐसा हो जाए’ गीत ले लीजिये जो मैंने बजाया है। (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW3cAlujZIw) 

कुछ नया कर दीखाने की मुझे जो बिमारी है वो इतनी आसानी से छूटती  नहीं है।  वो गीत “दिल चीज़ क्या है” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRhXQbQakf8)    जिसमे मैंने सारंगी के तान कैसे बजाये जाएँ  वो दिखाया था। 

अब इस गीत में क्या नया है भला? तबला संगतकार को देखिये।  न कोई चुनौती न कोई करामत दिखाने की गुंजाइश । पूरे गीत में बिलकुल ठेका लगाए रखना  भी एक तरह की चुनौती ही है ! अच्छी तरह निभाई  है कृतार्थ ने।  सहमत हो मेरे साथ?

जो जगह पे मैं स्वर को लम्बा कर लेता हूँ वो एक चुनौती है।  ‘चैन से हमको कभी में ‘भी’ बजाते वक्त निसा देखिये।  और आगे, “पीना तो पीने ना दिया”  में ‘या’ को लम्बा करने के लिए ‘पमरेसा’ केवल  बाएं हाथ की उंगलिओं  से बजाया है । तभी वो सही बजता है। कई जानकार सुन ने वालों को इस में गज़ वाला वायोलीन या सारंगी सुनायी देती है।  इन में से कई लोगो ने मुझे सुझाव दिया है की में गज़ का प्रयोग कर के देखूं। चलो वो कर लेंगे एक दिन। 

अब मुझे ये मत पूछिए के मैंने दूसरा अन्तरा क्यों नहीं बजाया। दो कारण: १) वो पहले जैसा ही है ,केवल शब्द अलग है, और (२) थोड़ा आलसी हूँ मैं ! 

इस नाचीज़ के लिए और कोई सुझाव हो तो जरूर लिखना कॉमेंट मैं।

Here is a perfect song to wallow in nostalgic pain inflicted by your lover who abandoned you. Asha bagged the Filmfare award as the Best Playback Singer for this song from the unlikeliest of the movies, “Pran Jaaye par vachan naa jaaye” in the year 1974. The recording of the song, I read somewhere, marked the end of a special relationship, but we won’t venture into that sentimental matter. For records, OP accepted the trophy, for Asha who preferred to skip the event, only to dump the trophy in the bushes as he drove back home. The song for reasons unknown was ruthlessly removed from the movie.

So much for the drama associated with the song. If you are not the type of person who did not have the luxury of being abandoned by a cruel lover, you can still sing with my Pratham Tarang in this video.

Instruments such as Pratham Tarangs are not amenable to play such maudlin, agonizingly slow, measured songs. But yours truly gave in to the itch and played it anyway. Remember the last song on YouTube uploaded (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRhXQbQakf8) where I attempted that song with heavy Sarangi taans? 

The closest that I remember to have uploaded of such slow song is Ram Kare aisa Ho jaaye (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW3cAlujZIw)

Unlike the Dil Cheez Kya hai song my young tabla accompanist didn’t find it much challenging unless you call simple thekas as a challenge, just making sure that I do not stretch the lines to cross the laxman Rekha of taal. 

Mark the place where I play ‘kabheeeeee’ at the notes “NiSaNiSa….” and the place where I play Peena to Peene na Di ya……… The stretching of ‘ya’ in four notes PaMaReSa is accomplished with just the left hand fingers that apparently give an impression of a bow instrument to many. I am grateful to these loyal listeners. One listener has gone to the extent of suggesting that I use a bow to play such songs!

Anyhow, I have just played one antara of the song. You can sing the second antara by going back to the first one as I play it. So lazy of me!
