લલિત કલાઓનું જીવંત સંમેલન! અછાંદસ કાવ્યને સંગીતના રાગમાં ઢાળવું સહેલું નથી. વળી કોઈ વાર સંગીત ને સંગીત જ રહેવા દો તો સારું.
ભરૂચના અગ્રગણ્ય માતબર કવિ શ્રી રમણીક અગ્રાવતને એક વિચાર ઝબક્યો.રાગના ભાવ ને લઈને રચાયેલ એક કાવ્ય સંગ્રહને પ્રથમ પારિતોષિક એનાયત થયું તો કહે ‘રાજેનભાઈ, ચાલો આપણે કાવ્ય અને પ્રથમ તરંગની જુગલબંદી કરીએ. હું એક આવું કાવ્ય વાંચું અને તમે વગાડો એ જ રાગ પર આધારિત કોઈ ગીત.’
ભરૂચને આંગણે માર્ચ ૨ ની એક સાંજે અમે કલાવન્ત શ્રોતાગણ સમક્ષ બેસી ગયા,
કાવ્ય – સંગીત – મેળાવડામાં શ્રોતાઓ ભાવ વિભોર! જુઓ બિહાગ રાગ કેવો ખીલે છે અને સાથે શ્રોતાઓ પણ ! ગીતમાં આવે છે તેમ તેરે એ સુર ઓર મેરે એ ગીત.

Poetry and music
For most people, poetry and music go hand in hand, but not always. You can have a poem that cannot be sung easily. You can have pure simple music that needs no words.
The celebrated Gujarati poet Ramanik Agravat hit upon a unique idea! He culled out some of his award-winning poems describing the mood of some ragas and asked me, ‘Can you demonstrate these ragas through your Pratham Tarang?’
Here was an idea I couldn’t resist. Come March 2, and we got together in the evening in the presence of a discerning audience. Did we have a blast?
The audience listened to the poetic description in rapt attention and then watched me play some popular old film songs based on the raga.
