Qué será, será? It’s déjà vu time again!

From September to November 2022, I performed at 14 concerts in as many cities in the United States, not to count the innumerable home baithaks filled with a handful of music aficionados clamouring for melodies of the yesteryears.  It was one of the most satisfying concert tours for me, that raised an astronomical sum for Pratham Education.   Will this tour be as successful as last year?

Doris Day sings to her little girl,   ‘Qué será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
Qué será, será
What will be, will be’   Listen to the song

The noted American naturalist, poet – philosopher, Henry David Thoreau famously said, ‘What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us. Life isn’t about finding yourself; it’s about creating yourself. So, live the life imagined.

Taking a cue from him, let me live my life as I imagine within me, over the next two months. No ‘Qué será, será’ for me. I read somewhere that even Doris Day didn’t like the meaning of this song she was asked to sing for the Alfred Hitchcock movie ‘The Man who knew too much’ The ‘man in me’ doesn’t know too much but only that I know ‘I create my own destiny’ and that pretty much sums it up.

  1. Interesting read and best wishes for your concert trip! May it break all the previous records!
On the other note, the more we know, the more we realise, how little we know!
